Jackson Capenos joined the United States Marine Corps in 2012, serving as an Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) Crewman at Camp Lejeune, NC. As part of the “amtrack” community, he trained and operated in the rugged steel beasts known within the MOS as gators—riding through surf and darkness during countless night ops. His time in service was defined by the strong brotherhood within his MOS, forged through long field ops and days spent covered in oil, grease and sweat. The tight-knit AAV crews built a bond that only comes from life on the "ramp".
